Environment:  pelagic; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 5 m
Distribution:  Northern Atlantic and the Black Sea: from New Brunswick, Canada south to France and northeast to Russia and White Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  The freshwater individuals were observed to be hairy-like as compared to the brackish water individuals (Ref. 125125). Main food and feeding type based on another species of the same genus; to be replaced with a better reference (Ref. 95732).
