Komentar Species has been recorded from Bunbury, Fremantale, Cockburn Sound Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania. Since larvea of the species is short lived, trasport via ballast water is not likely. Instead, introduction is via fouling on boat hulls. There is no signioficant impact in western Australia but in Port Philip Bay, Victoria it has been found to overgrow seagrass and compete with native oysters, mussels and scallops for food. It also contributes to algal blooms by secreting nitrogen and causes clogging of dredges and nets. Acuan Department of Fisheries, Western Australia, 2000
