Found on sand rocks, soft mud and fine gravel or among corallines in the lowest intertidal zone to a depth of 300 m (Ref. 80404). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
