Minimum depth from Ref. 881. Inhabits soft muddy bottoms on the deeper part of the continental shelf and on the slope (Ref. 434). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
