It has lengths of 20 cm, total body length; 7.5 to 10 cm, carapace length (Ref. 4). Found in sandy substrates, mud, gravel, rock and calcareous algae (Ref. 106834). Nocturnal. Feeds mainly on bivalves at night (Ref. 98471). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
