Western Atlantic Ocean; Mediterranean: Turkey in Mediterranean Sea. Smaragdia viridis var. ex color matonis and Smaragdia viridis var. ex color lineata also in Aegean Sea.
Collected from the sublittoral zone, from low tide up to a depth of 200 m. Minimum depth from Ref. 083435. Maximum length is based on maximum reported size on Ref. 083435. Members of the order Neritopsina are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults (Ref. 833).
