Circumboreal: Arctic Ocean, Northern Pacific and Atlantic.
Minimum depth from Ref. 865. Found on rocky substrates but in the deeper part of its range, it is found on pebbles and mud (Ref. 93256). Members of the class Asteroidea exhibit both asexual (regeneration and clonal) and sexual (gonochoric) means of reproduction. Life cycle: Embryos hatch into planktonic larvae and later metamorphose into pentamorous juveniles which develop into young sea stars with stubby arms (Ref. 833).
