Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 150 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific and Western Central Atlantic. Introduced in the Mediterranean Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Minimum depth from Ref. 87156. Found in patch reefs, Thalassia sp. beds, reef crest, and fore-reef slopes on algae and Thalassia sp. blades at depths of 0.2 to 31 m. As with other hydroids (e.g., Eudendrium sp., Pennaria disticha, Cryptolaria exserta, and Sertularella diaphana), this species exhibits a pelagic medusiod stage (Refs. 87156, 137490). Also observed under an overhang (Ref. 97576). Also reported to grow on floating seaweed, gorgonid soft corals, coral rubbles, and various biogenic structures such as sponges, worm tubes, shells, and ascidians (Ref. 137490).
