Environment:  benthic; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from Sri Lanka to eastern Indonesia; north to southern Japan and south to Northern Territory.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected for its nacreous shell and edible flesh (Ref. 349). Inhabits wave exposed rocky intertidal shores. Feeds on epilithic algae by grazing (Ref. 85382). Found in intertidal, on rocks and coral reefs (Ref. 75835).
