Max. size:  19.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 23.6 cm TL (female)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 200 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic. Introduced to French Polynesia, New Caledonia, and the Mediterranean Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum standard length: 22 cm (Ref. 356). Inhabits bottom mud or peat, often with sand, clay or broken shells. Adults in marine environment. Juveniles in estuarine and marine environment (Ref. 8).
