Family:  Penaeidae (penaeid shrimps)
Max. size:  14.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 18.2 cm TL (female)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 50 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: from Southeast Africa and Taiwan to the Malay Archipelago and Polynesia, north to Japan and south to Australia and South Africa. Tropical to subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Marine, tropical climates (Ref. 8). Inshore (Ref. 121727). Coastline to deep waters down to 50 m (Ref. 114767). Seagrass serves as nursery ground before they move offshore at the age of 5 months (Ref. 121729). Also found in mangroves (Ref. 121728). Opportunistic omnivore (Ref. 121726).
