Family:  Penaeidae (penaeid shrimps)
Max. size:  18.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; brackish; marine; depth range 2 - 40 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: from Gulf of California off Isla Altamura, Sinaloa (Mexico), Guatemala, Gulf of Nicoya (Costa Rica), Panama, Golfo de Guayaquil (Ecuador), Colombia, to Paita (Peru).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum abdomen length: 11.0 cm (Ref. 8). Known from muddy bottoms in intertidal and subtidal areas (Ref. 83922). In general, the majority of penaeids are omnivorous or detritus feeders (Ref. 105082).
