Family:  Sepiolidae (bobtail squids), subfamily: Sepiolinae
Max. size:  3.3 cm ML (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 25 - 475 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean: from Norway to Morocco.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Preferentially inhabits muddy substrates in depths between 25 to 475 m. Spawns continuously throughout the year. Often associated with Rossa macrosoma and Sepietta oweniana. Although less common, is caught along with other species of the genus and is sold and consumed locally (Ref. 1695).
