Definition of Term

barbel
(English) Fleshy projection near mouth, chin or snout as in catfish or cod; slender tentacle-like protuberance generally used for locating food as on the chin of goatfishes, some of the croakers, and others. (See also: mouth, snout, chin)
barbillon
