(English) One of a variable number of specialized scales in front of the anterior dorsal, anal and caudal fins in lower Teleostomi, e.g. in Acipenseridae, Lepisosteidae, Amiidae and Notacanthidae. Plural fulcra. (See also: scale, dorsal fin, anal fin)
