Definition of Term

tenuis stage
(English) Larval stage of Carapidae following the vexillifer stage, characterized by lack of the vexillum, thin body, the immense length of the cylindrical body and the relative smallness of the head (about 1/30 of total length of the body). The transparent tenuis larva is first benthic and free-living, then inhabits the cavity of a sea cucumber. (See also: larval development, vexillum, LarvalBase)
