Definition of Term

weir
(English) 1) a dam in a river to back up water to form a fish pond, 2) a fence of stakes, brushwood, etc. set up in a river or intertidal channel for catching fish, 3) a bank or levee to hold a river in its bed or to direct it to a new bed. (See also: trammel net, intertidal, gear)
