Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

This small nocturnal squid is collected from shallow seagrass beds (approximately less than 2 m) in Okinawa during winter (November to March); its whereabouts during the warmer months are unknown. It is also found, although rarely, in coral habitats. This species has been observed to attack the dorsal side of its prey to immobilise it within a few seconds, then swim in sudden and quick movements or attach to substrate while consuming the prey. The males approach females directly and mate in a head-to-head position (Ref. 129526). Collected from shallow seagrass beds (ca. less than 2 m) in Okinawa during winter (November to March) and also observed although rarely, in coral habitats; whereabouts during warmer months unknown. This species is found active at night (Ref. 129526).
