Found along the coasts and further out into the open sea, mainly on top of sea banks. Shallowly burrows in coarse-grained sediment. A suspension feeder (Ref. 7882).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
