Constructs a burrow in which both the species and a goby Ctenogobiops feroculus reside, displaying obligate mutualism. Gobies are rapidly killed by predators if excluded from shrimp burrows while the shrimp halts burrowing activity when separated from the goby. As adults, neither species is seen without the other. Found exclusively in shallow coral reef lagoons (Ref. 107898).
