Surface irregularly corrugated. External and internal color: yellow to bright orange. Rubbery and tough consistency (Ref. 85482). Smooth to the touch. Purple, dark brown, light brown, purple brown, or beige in alcohol (Ref. 081712).
Occurs in patch rock or coral bottom at depths between 13 to 33 m (Ref. 81714).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
