Encrusting. Three cycles of septa present; tertiaries small, with distinct corresponding costae. Some with principal septae between 1 to 5, with elongated tertiaries (Ref. 88968).
Maximum depth based on Ref. 88968. Occurs on intertidal rock pools, subtidal reefs and boulder substrata (Ref. 88997). Known to encrust over Lithophyllum at a depth of 36 m (Ref. 88968).

Hermaphroditic (Ref. 113712). Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end (Ref. 833).
