Minimum depth from Ref. 101147. Common in shallow water. Attached via its byssus to the undersides of rocks and coral boulders; also on sandy or muddy sand bottoms among coral rubble (Ref. 101147).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
