It has a maximum total length of 16 cm; and a carapace length of 1.5 to 6.3 cm (Ref. 4). Occurs at a depth range from 20 to 455 m, on soft muddy bottoms. It digs into the substrate and covers itself with the mud and sand (Ref. 4).
Ovigerous females are found from May to October (Ref. 4).
