Produces large mounds and tunnels down to a meter into coarse sand and silty fine sand on lower intertidal and subtidal seagrass beds (Refs. 86837, 87257). Infaunal (Ref. 97531). It is a deposit feeder (Ref. 86848).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
