Maximum Total Length: 2.5 centimeters. Girdle: Covers the valves. Valves color: Red; occasionally spotted with white. Valves shape: Heart-shaped, covered with minute; round, sharply raised pustules, except on narrow dorsal ridge. Girdle: Rusty brown, lower edge with a spiculose fringe. Valves: have four tufts of long, glassy bristles. Tufts: Set in cuplike collars (Ref. 281).
Epibiotic, found on rubble (Ref. 110502). Common in the reef, under calcareous rocks (Ref. 292).

Members of the class Polyplacophora are mostly gonochoric. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into lecitotrophic planktonic trocophore larvae (no veliger stage) which later metamorphose and settle on the bottom as young adults.
