Girdle: minutely scaled medium wide; profusely covered with glassy spines; extends between the valves to the jugal ridge. Mucro: Median and less prominent. Sculpture of central area: Wavy longitudinal ribs. Lateral areas: Faintly defined by ridges. Color of valves: Reddish buff with matching girdle (Ref. 296).

Members of the class Polyplacophora are mostly gonochoric. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into lecitotrophic planktonic trocophore larvae (no veliger stage) which later metamorphose and settle on the bottom as young adults.
